A sore shoulder is a sore shoulder whether it happened in a playoff game or on a Tuesday night at the community centre. Dr. Quick works with players right across the range, and the appointment starts the same way either way: what happened, how you are moving now, and what you want to get back to.
Or as Dr. Quick puts it: “Whether you are a competitive player right now or you are just playing for fun on the weekends, I can help you with your injuries.”
Junior, varsity and higher-level minor hockey, including care planned around a game and practice schedule rather than against it.
Weekly skates, oldtimers, and the players who mostly want the knee to stop complaining every time they push off.
Coming back after an injury, a long layoff, or a few seasons off the ice entirely. Starting again counts.
Some injuries stop you playing outright. Others just sit in the background all season and quietly take the fun out of it. Dr. Quick sees both, from the acute problem you need dealt with this week to the chronic one you have been skating on for years.
Evidence-informed adjustments aimed at improving how your joints move, so you are not compensating around a stiff area every shift.
Hands-on work on the tight or irritated tissue around the problem, which is often what is actually limiting the movement.
Used where it suits the injury and your comfort level. Dr. Quick will explain what it involves before anything happens.
Shockwave therapy is available on site in Smiths Falls, and most plans include rehab work you do between visits. The point is to leave with something to do, not just something that was done to you.
Why hockey
Dr. Quick is the trainer for the Carleton Place Canadians Junior A team, so she deals with hockey injuries on a weekly basis through the season. She also plays herself, in the women’s league here in Smiths Falls.
That matters for one practical reason. She knows what the demands actually are: what it takes to get through a shift, what the drive home from a road game does to a back, and why “just rest it for a few weeks” is rarely a plan anyone follows in the middle of a season.
What happened, what hurts, and what you want to get back to.
How the joint and the tissue around it are actually moving right now.
In-season, off-season, or somewhere in between. You decide the pace.
“Dr. Morgan is knowledgeable and thorough. She explains treatment clearly and takes time to answer questions.”— Theresa P.
Individual results vary. These experiences reflect personal opinions only.
Yes. Most of the players Dr. Quick sees are recreational. How often you play changes how a plan is built around your schedule, not whether you are worth seeing.
Yes, and it is common. In-season care is planned around your games and practices, and Dr. Quick will be straight with you about what is reasonable to do while you are still playing.
That depends entirely on the injury, and it is a conversation rather than a rule. Dr. Quick will explain what she finds and what the options are, and the decision is yours.
